This is a great time to be considering an event like this. San Diego will be host to race 3 of the new “America’s Cup World Series” events right here on our bay in late November. As a company very closely associated with this event and the America’s Cup in general, we are able to elevate the experience for your guests by delivering the most up to date stories and information about the current AC climate. This is the territory of “bragging rights”. You won’t go away disapointted.

 

 

Our yachts can each legally accommodate up to 20 guests plus our 3 or 4 crew. While that is our maximum capacity there is no minimum. Even if your group is just 10 or 12, should your budget permit we can split you evenly between the yachts for some serious hands-on America’s Cup match-race action. There is no other place in the USA where you can do this on the latest generation of America’s Cup yachts.

You can typically charter each yacht exclusively for a 3.0 hour window for up to 20 guests maximum at a rate of $2,000 + consideration for a gratuity for the 4 crew + $4 per person docking fee. This gives you the private use of the vessel. We have soft beverages on board. You are also welcome to BYO beer, wine, box lunches, snacks if you wish. This is good clean fun. You can take turns pitching in to help operate these big yachts, or just relax and enjoy watching others have their fun. As mentioned we can charter both yachts to you for the ultimate experience. Please be assured that there are no additional skills or work involved in being part of a ‘race’. It simply doubles the excitement and the visual pleasure, but it can also double the action and participation of your own group. Once on board those competitive juices start to flow and most guests really get into it for a good portion of the event. Here are some fun photos of the race yachts. This activity delivers your guests the ultimate yacht race…..San Diego is the only place in America to get this race experience on current generation IACC yachts. From a ‘team-building’ perspective this racing event is the ultimate yachting experience.

If your group size or budget does not permit use of both race yachts, be assured that we will do our best to schedule a “public” trip at a similar time to your own reservation, thus providing both groups the bonus of the ultimate race experience. While this may not always be possible, we too like to see both yachts out match-racing as we know this is what delivers you the very best experience and at the end of the day, seeing you depart with big smiles is what we strive to achieve.

Remote Pick-up

Should it be convenient for you and our schedule we will gladly bring the yachts/s to one of a small number of bayside docks that may prove more convenient to your hotel or conference location. A small fee to relocate the yachts may apply. A separate fee will be required at each marina / dock. You may consider these fees as a trade-off for the cost of coach transportation. Here are the remote dock locations:

• Glorietta Bay close to the Hotel Del Coronado
• 5th Avenue Landing Marina behind the Convention Center & close to the Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton & Gaslamp Quarter Hotels
• Peohe’s Restaurant dock on Coronado
• Bali Hai Restaurant on Shelter Island
• San Diego Yacht Club on Shelter Island

 

Dress

You won’t get wet, bounced around and certainly not motion sick so just dress for the weather on the day…..soft sole shoes please. You should also consider a jacket outside the summer months as it does get cool on the water at times, particularly as sunset approaches. Let’s hope it is a beautiful day and you don’t need to wear it.

 

Catering

We will have soda, water & ice for you. If you wish to bring snacks or adult beverages you may do so. We only have a beer/wine license on the race yachts so please only bring beer (preferably in cans) and white wine (+ plastic cups). We can also provide that for you in coolers on the yacht and ready when you arrive. Beers @ $4 each & White Wine @ $24 per bottle. Packaged snacks at $30 per yacht.

 

Transportation

Our Maritime Museum location is easy access off all nearby freeways and coaches can pull to within 20 Ft of our entrance. On arrival please just check in at the Ticket / Information booth at the entrance to the museum. They will guide you from there.
