My husband and I were just walking on Kellogg Beach (8 PM) ~ 10 ft from the water and heard some noise. Suddenly there was a whale not 15 ft from us, and we heard and saw the blow hole. Then another whale surfaced, and we watched them both diving and surfacing several times as they entered the yacht basin between Point Loma and Shelter Island. These whales were huge – maybe 30 ft or so! We watched a while longer to see them come out but to no avail. Very exciting indeed!
